Along with you, we have been anxiously awaiting the decision from Pima County’s Superior Court Judge on the abortion laws in our state. Today, we are beyond excited by the life-affirming ruling of Judge Kellie Johson and are so grateful to God for yet another victory in the movement for Life!

Some History

Earlier this year, even before the Dobbs decision, a 15-week abortion ban (with no exception to rape and incest) was signed into law by Republican Governor Doug Ducey. This new law was slated to take effect on September 24th.

It included language ensuring that this new law would NOT override the 1901 law that bans abortion in all cases except to save a mother’s life. This 1901 law has been around since before Arizona became a state, and even carried a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years for abortion providers.

With Roe v. Wade in 1973, this 1901 law could not be enforced. But today, with Roe v. Wade overturned, Judge Johnson ruled to remove the injunction reinstating the ban on abortion.

Arizona For Life

Effective immediately, abortion is now illegal in the state of Arizona, except in the case of the mother’s health. While this is a significant step forward, our fight is not yet over. We fully anticipate that there will be confusion around what actually qualifies as a danger to the “mother’s health.” ABC 15 had even reported there is a growing fear for women’s health due to the possible confusion. Verifying the legality of a woman’s abortion request will be a requirement for performing one.

Despite this uncertainty, we must continue forward and embrace the expected influx of women who will be needing our services. With the abortion ban now in full effect, women will feel confused, angered, scared, alone, and won’t know where to turn. It is our job to welcome them with open arms and hearts, and show them that there is real healthcare, real hope, and more choices available to them other than abortion.

This is why the opening of our 4th medical center in North Phoenix could not be more timely.

Expanding Our Impact

Our 4th medical center is in a pivotal location where no other pregnancy resource centers or abortion clinics can be found within a 10-mile radius.  This is untouched territory and has untapped potential for restoring women’s hearts while saving the heartbeats of their babies.

Though we are excited to move forward with opening our 4th location, along with that comes a great financial need to fully staff and supply our new clinic so that we may remain available to the women that need us in the Greater Phoenix area.

Now is not the time to sit back, now is the time to stand up and join us in the Fight for Life because it is far from over.
