Choices Staff Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, care, and limited ultrasound exam of Choices’ Medical Clients. (We will train for limited ultrasound).  This position is part-time, 3 days a week. Registered Nurses will provide a safe non-judgmental space to care for clients in an unexpected pregnancy.  Nursing staff will work in conjunction with Choices policies and values to assess and educate clients on Life Issues, Life Choices, and Sexual Health based on biblical standards of sexual integrity.  Responsibilities and preferred qualifications include, but are not limited to:

Specific Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
  • Registered Nurse in good standing, unrestricted, and in good standing in the state of Arizona. 
  • Demonstrates competency in the field and maintains standards of the profession
  • Preferred background in OB/GYN, but will consider Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, or other specialties

Key Job Duties / Tasks / Assignments:

  • Will perform limited ultrasound
  • Maintain accurate records, charting, and care plans
  • Initiates client follow-up in order to assess clients’ further medical, social and educational needs.
  • Provide evidence-based information and education for the client and her significant other in order for them to make informed decisions regarding their pregnancy, STDs, or sexual health
  • Assure accurate implementation of Health Care Providers (HCP) orders and advises HCP of patient’s progress and changes in condition
  • Initiates client follow-up in order to assess clients’ further medical, social and educational needs
  • Reinforces the humanity of the unborn child with the client
  • Exhibits skill in interpersonal communication and ability to relate to a diverse clientele, other medical professionals, and the staff and volunteers at Choices
  • Complies with State and Professional licensing and continuing education requirements
  • Participates in quality assurance activities and required Choices training seminars (OSHA, volunteer in services, staff training/retreats)

Role Summary,

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to serve as Mobile Medical Unit Drivers for Choices. This role involves safely transporting the mobile medical unit to various community locations, performing basic maintenance checks on the vehicle, and providing basic IT support for onboard systems. Volunteers will embody our Christian values, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment while assisting the medical team in delivering care.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Operation:

Safely drive the mobile medical unit to and from designated community outreach locations, adhering to all traffic regulations and safety protocols.

Vehicle Maintenance:

Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the mobile medical unit, checking for basic maintenance needs (e.g., tire pressure, fuel levels, and cleanliness) and reporting any issues to the Choices team.

IT Support:

Troubleshoot basic technical issues with onboard systems, such as Wi-Fi connectivity and laptops used for patient records and scheduling.

Setup Assistance:

Assist with setting up the mobile medical unit at outreach sites, including stabilizing the vehicle and ensuring equipment is ready for use.

Faith-Based Engagement:

Participate in team prayer or devotionals before outreach events and, when appropriate, offer spiritual encouragement to patients in alignment with Choices’ Christian mission.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with medical staff, other volunteers, and Choices leadership to ensure smooth operations and a positive experience for all.

Qualifications and Skills

Faith Commitment:

A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a desire to serve others in accordance with Choices’ mission and values.

Driving Requirements:

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Experience driving large vehicles (e.g., vans, RVs, or buses) is preferred; a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus but not required.

IT Experience:

Basic knowledge of IT, including troubleshooting hardware/software issues, managing Wi-Fi connections. Familiarity with Google Workspace is a plus.

Reliability:

Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to a regular volunteer schedule.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for extended periods while driving and assist with light lifting (e.g., stabilizing equipment or supplies) as needed.

Communication Skills:

Strong interpersonal skills to interact with team members and community members in a compassionate, respectful manner.

Training:

No prior medical experience required; training will be provided for vehicle operations and IT tasks. Basic IT experience is preferred.

Time Commitment:

Volunteers are expected to commit to at least one day per month or as needed for mobile unit outreach events.

Flexible scheduling available, including weekends or evenings, depending on community needs.

Location

Various community locations served by the Choices mobile medical unit. Volunteers must be willing to drive to and from outreach sites within the service area.

The Center Administrative Assistant makes a critical first impression on clients as they answer the phone and welcome clients into the center. They will also assist in the daily operations of the center to provide the highest level of customer service and client experience that reinforces our desire to provide a #GreaterLove4PHX.
 
Specific Requirements:
  1. High School Diploma or GED Required. College coursework or associate degree is a plus.
  2. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  3. Front-desk reception experience, which includes answering phones and greeting clients who walk in.
  4. Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a positive disposition.
  5. Bilingual Spanish/English is desirable.

Responsibilities and preferred qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Support Center Director/Assistant Center Director/Center Coordinator in daily operations of the center as assigned.
  • Ability to think and respond quickly and factually, answering questions/concerns from walk-ins or phone calls in regards to our services and the importance of receiving the facts in regards to their situation.
  • Understand and identify outside entities (such as Human Coalition, sidewalk counselors, etc.)  that feed calls and inquiries into our center and either handle or quickly hand them off to the Center Coordinator.
  • Provide routine clerical and administrative duties (scheduling appointments, client intake, etc.).
  • Works with appropriate center staff/volunteers to schedule any follow-up appointments.
  • Assist in coordinating outbound client follow-up calls with Choices team to check on clients and to offer any appropriate services.
  • Assist with various data entry and run reports as requested.
  • Some evening or weekend hours may be required.
  • Work hours/days are subject to change based on the needs of the ministry and the center.

Vacations and Vacation Pay
Eligible employees will begin accruing vacation time on the first day of employment. Thereafter, employees accrue vacation time every pay period. As a full-time employee you can accrue up to 80 hours of vacation per year, up to 5 years of service. After 5 years of service full-time employees will accrue 120 hours. Employees who regularly work 32-39 hours per week accrue vacation time on a prorated basis.

Earned Paid Sick Time (PST)
You will accrue 2.0 hours of PST for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 80.0 hours/year. After 5+ years, you will accrue up to a maximum of 120 hours/year.

Salary
Pay periods are bi-weekly (every other Friday) .

Group Health (Medical Insurance)
You are eligible for and may enroll in group health (medical) insurance coverage. The cost of coverage for you and your dependents is paid in-part by Choices (currently up to $455/month) and in-part by you through authorized pre-tax payroll deductions. Employees are eligible starting the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment.

Group Dental and Vision Insurance
Access to low-cost dental and vision insurance. The cost of coverage for you (and any eligible dependents) is paid in-full by you through authorized pre-tax payroll deductions.

Group Term Life Insurance, including AD&D
The cost of coverage for you is paid in-full by Choices.

Long-Term Disability (LTD) Insurance
The cost of coverage for you is paid in-full by Choices.

Supplemental Insurance Plans
Certain Supplemental Insurance Plans are available to Choices employees.

Group Insurances Enrollment and Payroll Deductions
You are encouraged to enroll for group insurance coverage(s) once you are formally employed by Choices. Coverage will begin on the first day of the month following sixty (60) calendar days of employment PROVIDED you enroll before the deadline.

Cafeteria (Section 125) Plan
Full and part-time benefits eligible employees can pay the cost of their and their dependents health, dental, vision, supplemental insurance premiums on a pre-tax basis (from pre-taxed dollars). Choices has set up a Section 125 Plan for this purpose. Paying for insurance costs on a pre-tax basis typically results in higher net pay (pay after taxes) than if the costs are deducted from after-tax dollars.
